CNA In-Service Training (NATCEP) – 24 clock hours

Six online modules that meet the 24 hours of in-service education Texas CNAs need to renew on the Nurse Aide Registry.

The Texas Nurse Aide Registry (NAR) requires every Certified Nurse Aide to complete 24 hours of approved in-service education every two years. This computer-based course is one of the options we offer to meet that requirement. Each of the six modules counts for 4 hours.

Content on geriatric care and on caring for residents with dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease, is required for renewal in Texas and is included here. You may repeat the course every year to stay on track.

Six modules

  • Patient Rights 4 hours
  • Client Safety 4 hours
  • Infection Control 4 hours
  • Dementia and Alzheimer’s 4 hours
  • Elder Abuse 4 hours
  • Communication Skills 4 hours

How it works

  • Read each module, then take its short test. Your score is saved after every test.
  • You need an overall score of at least 70% to complete the course.
  • When you finish, your certificate is created automatically. Download it as a PDF, print two copies (one for you, one for your employer) and keep it in your records.
  • Plan about 4 hours per module and take a 10-minute break every hour.
